Groundwater from the Ozark Aquifer is a shared resource across the region.
Regional water supply challenges require regional solutions
To address projected shortfalls, a partnership of southwest Missouri communities is sharing in the development of additional future water supply and transmission infrastructure.
The priority solution for additional regional water supply is a reallocation of water storage from Stockton Lake and the
development of infrastructure to deliver that
additional water supply to regional
communities.

Collaborating as a region allows communities to share the costs as well as the benefits of developing additional future water supply, making a regional solution more affordable for all.
Rather than competing for the same water, and bearing all the costs from going it alone, working as a coalition of communities will lead to greater success.
